Ottawa Real Estate Market: How I Use Creative Marketing and Technology to Change How We Do Things - EzCode

How I Use Creative Marketing and Technology to Change How We Do Things - EzCode

I woke up the other day with another great idea. I quickly jumped to my computer and performed a search online to find out if it had already been used in the real estate sector.

My Conclusion: It hasn’t yet!

I’ve decided to share it with you hoping that we start to see more and more people using it.

Here’s my commercial listing here in Ottawa, Ontario

ottawa commercial space for lease

Now people go by see the “For Sale” or “For Lease” sign in the window come up to the window of the unit for lease take down the number and call me up for information on the property.

Now, most questions you get from these calls are: Price? Term of Lease? Square Footage? Then some of them might be interested in viewing it.

Here’s how things can be different…

Let’s take the “For Sale” or “For Lease” sign again and let’s add something to it called an EzCode (aka Scanlife) owned by a company called Scanbuy.

Let’s have this person walk up to the store front again and look in the window at your sign. She now has two options:

1 - She can call you OR
2 - She can simply take her phone and using a program called ScanLife she takes a picture of this funny looking barcode.

The program will retrieve the information contained in the EzCode barcode and perform a function. Here are some of the functions you can have performed:

  • Have the phone send her to a website perhaps containing pictures of the inside
  • Have her get text information about the subject property such as price, sqft, lease term, etc.
  • Have it call a phone number (example: a 24/7 talking phone line)
  • And more…

Like I said I’ve never seen this done with real estate but it’s currently being done by big companies on billboards and on print mediums.

I was wondering the cost also as I have never heard of it. But man the possibilities.

I don't beleive there is a true cost to this as you can find websites that create EzCodes for free then all the user really needs is a program on their phone that can read these codes such as ScanLife. I know the Blackberry currently has the type of code built in that is used to add friends to your blackberry messenger contact list.
